A special education bus driver has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting an adult student who was a passenger on his bus, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives began investigating the alleged crime after receiving a report May 31 that a dependent adult had been sexually assaulted by a county driver, deputies said in a Sunday news release.

Detectives and investigators from the El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office conducted an investigation and arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of oral copulation with a minor, according to jail records.

The man worked for the county’s Office of Education beginning in October 2021.

He is being held in the El Dorado County Jail and is ineligible for bail. Representatives from the District Attorney’s Office are contacting families of students that the man transported, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sosa at 530-621-4711.
