Suspect arrested after car chase, crash near Interstate 5, Sacramento deputies say

Sacramento County deputies have arrested an armed suspect who crashed near Interstate 5 late Thursday after a vehicle pursuit with law enforcement.

Deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office gang unit attempted to make a traffic stop at 10:40 p.m. in the area of Fruitridge and Florin roads in south Sacramento, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a department spokesman.

The suspect evaded the traffic stop and led deputies on a vehicle pursuit, Gandhi said. During the pursuit, the suspect crashed his vehicle near the Florin Road entrance to Interstate 5 and fled on foot.

Authorities established a perimeter in the area to search for the man.

He was in custody Friday morning, the Sacramento Police Department said.
