Deputies investigate threat that prompted evacuation at Sacramento-area trade college

Police tape blocks entrance to a convenience store in San Luis Obispo County.

A bomb threat received in a voicemail message Monday morning briefly prompted a Sacramento-area private trade college to evacuate its building.

The building that houses Carrington College on the 8900 block of Folsom Boulevard in the Rosemont neighborhood was evacuated for several minutes after officials received the threat and called authorities.

Deputies remain at the scene Monday morning investigating the incident but students, faculty and administrators have been given an “all-clear” to return, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

Carrington College is a for-profit private college based at the 32,000-square-foot Folsom Boulevard facility with 16 other campuses in seven states, according to school officials. The school offers certificates and associate degrees for medical, dental and veterinary assistants, as well as allied office fields in the medical industry.
