I-80 crash near Davis kills woman and injures 4 other people, including a baby, CHP says
A car attempting to change lanes Sunday night on Interstate 80 near Davis led to a woman dying and four other people, including a 9-month-old baby, being taken to a hospital with injuries, the California Highway Patrol said.
A person driving a Nissan Sentra in eastbound lanes, west of Richards Boulevard, was going at a “high rate of speed” at about 10:04 p.m. when a Nissan Maxima changed lanes directly into the path of the Sentra, said Officer Jason Tyhurst, a spokesman for the CHP Solano office.
The Sentra struck the Maxima, and a woman sitting in the latter vehicle died, Tyhurst said. She wasn’t wearing her seat belt, he added.
There were three other people riding in the Maxima, including a 9-month-old baby, who suffered minor to moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital, Tyhurt said. The Sentra’s driver also went to the hospital, he said.
CHP officials said the woman who died was in her 20s.
Alcohol did not play a role in the collision, CHP officials said.
