Update: Southbound Highway 99 in Sacramento reopened following collision

The California Highway Patrol reports that all lanes of southbound Highway 99 have reopened following a collision and fire north of Fruitridge Road.

Although the California Department of Transportation initially reported that an overturned big rig was involved, California Highway Patrol spokesman Officer Michael Bradley said it was a landscaper’s pickup truck towing a trailer. The pickup and trailer collided with a Corvette, which hit the center divide and caught fire, Bradley said.

Caltrans reported that two people were injured.

The incident was reported at about 1:15 p.m. The southbound lanes were fully reopened to traffic about 3 p.m.
