A girl suffered a gunshot wound to a lower extremity while standing outside a residence in south Sacramento on Tuesday, police said.
The suspect, who remains at large, allegedly approached the girl outside a residence in the 6100 block of Bamford Drive around 2:23 p.m., said Sacramento Police Department spokesman Officer Justin Brown. The girl was described as roughly 10 years old.
Multiple people were gathered in the front yard of the residence in the Valley Hi/North Laguna neighborhood when the suspect approached on foot and fired multiple rounds from a handgun in their general direction, Brown said. The suspect then fled on foot.
The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. She is being treated at a local hospital.
