Video: Watch Sacramento police officer Whip and Nae Nae with neighborhood kids

He’s all the rage on the Internet, that dance sensation Sacramento police Lt. Roman Murrietta.

Murrietta danced the night away in the spirit of good fun last week with neighborhood children and adults near Center Parkway and Mack Road at the Sacramento Summer Night Lights community event.

Summer Night Lights is modeled after a similar program in Los Angeles. Members of the community come out on summer nights for food, conversation and dance in a safe environment.

Murrietta wasn’t performing security duty; he was simply engaging with the community.

If that engagement called for dance, well, so be it. Murrietta and friends did the Whip and Nae Nae to the sounds of the hip-hop recording artist Silento.

“He has a great rapport with the south Sacramento community,” said police spokesman Officer Justin Brown.
