Man accused in shopping complex homicide had ongoing dispute with victim, Woodland police say
A man accused of gunning down another person in a Woodland shopping center over the weekend had an ongoing dispute with the victim and allegedly hit him with a vehicle before fatally shooting him, police said Monday.
Officers were called to the 100 block of West Main Street about 7:30 p.m. for a report of a man threatening another man. They found a man suffering a gunshot wound and “other injuries,” according to a Woodland Police Department social media post.
The incident began after a 36-year-old man, later identified as Isaias Jaime, 36, allegedly threatened another person inside a business at the shopping center. The homicide suspect, David Manuel Sanchez-Gallardo, 33, arrived at the scene, accelerated his vehicle through the complex and allegedly smashed into the man, Woodland police said in an updated news release.
Sanchez-Gallardo is then accused of shooting Jaime, who didn’t have any weapons on him, police added.
It’s unclear how Sanchez-Gallardo was alerted of the victim who police say was making threats. There is a “connection” between Sanchez-Gallardo and a person inside a business who saw Jaime, said Sgt. Richard Towle, a spokesman for the Woodland Police Department.
Jaime was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Woodland police. Sanchez-Gallardo was booked on suspicion of homicide, Towle said.
“Detectives are continuing their investigation and believe that this was an isolated incident,” police said. “There is no threat to our community.”
