Three suspects are in custody after a pursuit through Carmichael that began when a California Highway Patrol officer spotted three men in a stolen vehicle Wednesday morning.
CHP spokesman Officer Chad Hertzell said the incident began about 8:30 a.m. when an officer eastbound on Madison Avenue west of Hemlock Street spotted a green Oldsmobile Bravada with a license plate that was registered to a Chevrolet. When the officer turned on his patrol vehicle’s emergency light, the Oldsmobile fled and the pursuit began.
Out of a concern for public safety, the officer abandoned the pursuit in the area of Walnut Avenue and Gibbons Drive. A few minutes later, Hertzell said, the CHP received a call from a resident of Maudray Way, north of Gibbons Drive, who reported that three men had just parked a green vehicle in his driveway. The resident said the men got out of the vehicle, argued briefly among themselves, then left on foot.
A search of the area was initiated and the three suspects were taken into custody.
