A fire northwest of Auburn that started shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday was reported fully contained about 7:50 p.m. after burning 26 acres.
Dubbed the Baxter fire, the blaze occurred in a rural area off Baxter Grade Road about 3 miles northwest of Auburn. The California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection initially reported that 35 acres had burned, but the figure was revised after the fire was contained.
No information was available on the cause of the fire.
