Ask Sacto 911 crime Q&A: Was anyone arrested in 2003 Christmas Eve slaying in south Sacramento County?

About 10 years ago, one of the bowlers in our league was found dead in his car on the street on Christmas Eve from a gunshot after delivering presents. We have never heard any follow-up. Does this remain an unsolved murder?

Rashidi Ahmad, who worked as a hair stylist at the Victorian Salon in midtown Sacramento and as a loan underwriter at Bank of American in Rancho Cordova, was found shot to death inside his pickup truck in south Sacramento County on Christmas Eve 2003.

According to stories in The Sacramento Bee, Ahmad, 33, had crisscrossed the county, dropping in on friends and giving them presents. Deputies found him in his truck after it crashed into a building at Lincolnshire and Williamsborough drives, just south of the Sacramento city limits along Franklin Boulevard. He had been shot in the neck. Although nothing appeared to be missing, Sacramento County sheriff’s homicide detectives said at the time that they believed robbery was the motive.

No arrests have been reported.

In June 2004, the Carole Sund/Carrington Foundation announced a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.
