A Sacramento man convicted on 13 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14 has been sentenced to 290 years to life in prison, according to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office.
On May 27, a jury convicted Walter Kotko, 66, on 13 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, three counts of oral copulation or penetration on a child under 10, and two counts of sodomy or sexual intercourse with a child under 10, according to court records.
Kotko was arrested in 2007 after reportedly molesting a female family member from the age of 8 until she was 10. The girl’s mother found her crying in the bathroom one day and the daughter told what Kotko had done to her.
After Kotko’s arrest, another victim came forward. A neighbor said Kotko molested her from the age of 9 until she was 12 in the time period of 1994 to 1998. The charges were added to the ongoing trial, court records show.
