Police tape at crime scene

Amador County sheriff’s investigators were looking for three suspects who were wearing masks Tuesday morning when they entered a Walmart store in Jackson and got away with cash tills.

About 11:10 a.m. Tuesday, dispatchers received multiple calls reporting there were suspects wearing masks inside the Walmart store at Wicklow Way in Jackson and taking items from the store, according to an Amador County Sheriff’s Office news release.

Shortly after, dispatchers were told the suspects were prying open boxes. Numerous sheriff’s deputies were sent to the Walmart. Sheriff’s officials said witnesses inside the Walmart told the deputies there were three suspects wearing masks who entered the store and stole three cash tills.

The suspects then left the store with the cash tills, got into a dark-gray Infiniti Q50a sedan and left the area, according to the Sheriff’s Office. The Infiniti Q50a reportedly had dark tinted windows and no license plates.

About 12:30 p.m., less than 90 minutes after the Walmart robbery, Calaveras County authorities notified the Amador County Sheriff’s Office that cash tills were found on the shoulder of Highway 26 near Double Springs Road. Amador sheriff’s deputies collected the cash tills as evidence.

Investigators asked anyone with information about this theft to call the Sheriff’s Office at 209-223-6513 or its Secret Witness Hotline at 209-223-4900.
