Winters resident, 19, arrested after sexual assault allegations surface at high school

Bars from a jail cell frame a door being locked.

A 19-year-old Winters resident was arrested Monday and is accused of rape, kidnapping and assault stemming from an incident at Winters High School last fall, authorities said.

The incident was not immediately reported to high school staff, Winters Police Department said in a news release.

School staff notified the Police Department, which worked closely with the school district and the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office to investigate the incident. Prosecutors reviewed the case and advised they would file charges against the individual, who was subsequently booked into Yolo County Jail.

The news release said he faces several felony charges: rape, rape of a minor, assault with intent to rape, sexual battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon and assault on school property.

“Due to the sensitive nature of the incident and to respect and preserve the privacy of the victim, no further information will be released,” officers said.
