Federal authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter who struck and critically injured an 8-year-old girl last month in Upper Land Park, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The child was seriously wounded July 2 after multiple gunshots were fired at the Alder Grove housing complex on the 2600 block of Kit Carson Street, said Officer Anthony Gamble, a spokesman for the Police Department. She was taken to a hospital and “fighting for her life,” Gamble said.

The department said it was partnering with the ATF’s San Francisco field office, which was offering the reward.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the gunman is encouraged to call 888-ATF-TIPS or 916-808-0800. Callers can remain anonymous.

The child has since made progress in recovery but still faces “a long road ahead” and uncertainty about potential long-term damage, Gamble said.
