Boy, 15, killed in Arden Arcade apartment shooting identified by Sacramento coroner

Homicide investigation

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified a 15-year-old boy gunned down last week at an Arden Arcade apartment complex.

Gunfire broke out about 10:15 p.m. July 22 at the Ethan Apartments on the 1900 block of Ethan Way, striking two people, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

The 15-year-old boy was shot and taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Jimmy Walton, a resident of Citrus Heights.

Another man, who was in his 20s, was also wounded inside an apartment, according to The Sacramento Bee’s previous reporting.

The Sheriff’s Office has not announced any arrests, though a spokesman for the office said the shooting appeared to be gang-related. The investigation is ongoing.
