A Folsom police investigation is underway after a 2-year-old boy died unexpectedly Sunday after he was found alone in a vehicle.

Officers were called about 6:40 p.m. to a residence near Donnelly Circle and McAdoo Drive for a medical aid call, said Cmdr. Andrew Bates, a spokesman for the Folsom Police Department.

Officers rendered CPR until firefighters arrived at the scene. The boy was later pronounced dead, Bates said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the 2-year-old boy as Jason Peterson; his manner of death was classified as “undetermined” as of Monday afternoon.

“As with any unexpected death, we are investigating the circumstances,” Bates said.
