2 arrested in Yuba City for possessing stolen property, loaded firearm, authorities say
Sutter County sheriff’s deputies arrested two people on Tuesday on suspicion of possessing stolen property, burglary tools and a loaded firearm.
Deputies responded to a call Tuesday night reporting a suspicious vehicle near Normandy Court in south Yuba City. Once deputies arrived, they conducted an area check and witnessed an unoccupied vehicle with possible narcotics in plain sight. They saw two suspects go into the vehicle and drive away, according to a news release from the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.
At that point, deputies established a traffic stop and pulled over the vehicle. They spoke to a 34-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman and determined there was probable cause to search the vehicle.
During the search, deputies discovered a “methamphetamine pipe, a backpack containing a fuel siphoning hose, bolt cutters, a loaded .38 special Ruger revolver, at least 1,000 rounds of ammunition, as well as checks, IDs and mail not belonging to them,” the Sheriff’s Office said.
Deputies concluded following the investigation that the two people had trespassed into a storage facility on Hunn Road to try and steal fuel.
The suspects were arrested for conspiracy, possession of stolen property, fraud and possession of a firearm and ammunition, sheriff’s officials said. Both remain in Sutter County Jail.
