One man killed, two wounded in North Sacramento shooting, police say

Homicide investigation

One man was killed and two others were injured after a shooting early Sunday in North Sacramento’s Ben Ali neighborhood, police officials said.

Deputies were called to the 1500 block of Orlando Way shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday following reports of gunfire. After officers arrived, they found a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds who was pronounced dead at the scene, the Sacramento Police Department said in a news release.

Two other adults in the area also suffered gunshot wounds. One was located near the scene and transported to a hospital with a gunshot wound not considered life-threatening. A second individual took themselves to a hospital with similar injuries, according to police officials.

“Due to the circumstances, homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are responding to take over the investigation,” said Officer Allison Smith, a spokeswoman for the Police Department. “They will be processing the scene, canvassing the area, and interviewing witnesses.”

Smith said the circumstances of the incident remain under investigation. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is expected to release the identity of the deceased man after his family has been notified.
