A teenage boy suffered a gunshot wound to the chest Monday night in a shooting near an apartment complex in Arden Arcade.

The shooting was reported about 9:30 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Howe Avenue, between Fair Oaks and Sierra boulevards. The teen suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, said Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman for the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.

The wounded teen was in a vehicle and being taken to a hospital when authorities found him. He was then taken by ambulance to a hospital. Gandhi said the wounded teen was expected to survive his injuries.

The sheriff’s spokesman said investigators believe the shooting suspect also was a male juvenile. The Sheriff’s Office has not released any further details on the suspect’s description.
