Police tape at crime scene

A 90-year-old resident of an assisted living and hospice care facility died this week after being assaulted by a fellow resident, according to Roseville police.

Officers responded Aug. 28 to a report of the assault at Brilliant Care Home in the 1100 block of Nob Hill Court, said Lt. Chris Ciampa, a spokesman for the Roseville Police Department.

The female victim suffered severe facial injuries and was taken to a hospital, Ciampa said. The woman, who’s identity has not been released, died Tuesday.

The Placer County Coroner’s Office is expected to identify the woman once her family has been notified.

The suspect, a 77-year-old man, was taken to another care facility. Ciampa did not announce any arrests into the incident, but said detectives are still investigating the incident.

“The Roseville Police Department remains committed to ensuring a thorough and transparent investigation and will continue to support the victim’s family and the community as this process unfolds,” Ciampa said in a statement.
