Teen arrested after Del Oro High School employee threatened over text, authorities say
A 16-year-old student was arrested Thursday by the Placer County Sheriff’s Office after a high school staff member in Loomis was texted an anonymous threat, according to school staff and deputies.
Del Oro High School administrators were told Tuesday that a staff member had been threatened anonymously, according to a news release from the Placer Union High School District.
The Sheriff’s Office began to investigate and traced it back to the teenage student. It’s unclear whether the student will face charges.
“We want to be clear that we take all matters of student and staff very seriously and individuals will be held accountable for their actions,” Sarah Rath, a spokeswoman for the Placer Union High School District, wrote in a news release.
It was unclear what the threat entailed. Elise Soviar, a spokeswoman for the Placer County Sheriff’s Office, declined to describe the message and said “the threat was vague.”
