Break-in at Sacramento pot dispensary ends in violent car crash after suspects flee police

Police tape at crime scene

Two people who eluded Sacramento police after a reported break-in at a marijuana dispensary were involved in a violent collision early Monday.

Police detained one of the men but are still searching for the other following the burglary and wreck, according to Police Department spokeswoman Officer Allison Smith.

Smith said Sacramento officers were called to the marijuana dispensary near Alder Avenue and Fruitridge Road in the Florin Fruitridge Industrial Park about 5 a.m., on a suspected burglary in progress.

Officers saw their vehicle and gave chase before the fleeing car crashed into a motorist at South Watt Avenue and Manlove Road in the unincorporated Rosemont area, leaving the motorists with what were described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Police investigators say an undisclosed amount of product was taken but did not name the person suspected in the break-in or the person still being sought.
