Police arrested a Woodland man accused fighting another man and stealing a car in an attempt to run over two people last week.

Officers were called about 6 p.m. Friday to the 1700 block of Brown Avenue after reports of a fight, the Woodland Police Department said.

A 27-year-old man fought another man and threatened to shoot two people with a rifle, police said on social media. The man then stole a car and nearly hit two people, police said.

He fled in the car, police said. While investigators interviewed witnesses and victims, the suspect returned in the allegedly stolen vehicle and was taken into custody while he attempted to enter a home.

The man faces charges of two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of criminal threats, battery, resisting or delaying an officer and vehicle theft, police said. He was no longer in custody as of Tuesday, according to jail records.
