Ballots, laptops and more stolen from 2 post offices in Sacramento County, sheriff says
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office began investigating Thursday break-ins at two United States post offices in southern Sacramento County in which ballots, laptops and mail were reportedly stolen.
Postal employees came to work Thursday morning and saw their offices in Isleton, 103 C St., and in the community of Ryde, 14286 Highway 160, had been broken into overnight, deputies said in a news release.
One or more alleged thieves pried open the post office’s back door in Isleton and stole a computer and mail, the release said. The front door at Ryde’s post office was broken and one or more suspects pilfered a laptop, ballots and mail, deputies said.
Sgt. Amar Gandhi, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, said the ballots were unmarked and their owners had yet to cast their votes.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 916-874-5115 or the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357. Callers may remain anonymous and may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
