Separate shootings leave 2 men dead in Sacramento County
Detectives are investigating the deaths of two men shot overnight in separate killings at opposite ends of Sacramento County.
Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies responded about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday to the 6800 block of Harlequin Way in North Highlands where gunshots had been reported. Deputies found a man in his mid-20s lying motionless outside a home.
The man had been shot several times in his upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In an apparently unrelated shooting, the body of a man was found on a south Sacramento street about 4:45 a.m. Thursday. The man was found in the roadway near Mack Road and Center Parkway, the victim of gunfire, said Sacramento police spokesman Sgt. Doug Morse.
Detectives were investigating to determine the identity of the person and why he was slain.
