Fatal crash in Rancho Cordova near Grant Line Road under investigation. 1 dead, 2 injured
A two-car fatal crash closed off two roads in Rancho Cordova, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
Two people have been taken to the hospital, and at least one person has died as a result of the crash, according to Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. The accident occurred at 4:25 a.m. Thursday morning near Grant Line Road and Chrysanthy Boulevard.
Emergency medical personnel were called to Grant Line Road between Kiefer Boulevard and Chrysanthy Boulevard.
The head-on collision is under investigation by the Rancho Cordova Police Department.
On Monday, coroner’s officials identified the fatal victim as Julian Shaun O’Donoghue, 20, of El Dorado Hills. According to family and friends in a GoFundMe fundraiser created Monday, O’Donoghue was a 2022 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and played football for the Trojans.
“Julian’s warmth and energy were contagious,” fundraiser organizer Amy Remly wrote. “He was the kind of person who could turn a bad day around with just his smile.”
As of Tuesday morning, the campaign had raised over $18,000 toward its $30,000 goal.
