A man is facing multiple charges Tuesday after leading Placer County Sheriff’s deputies on an early morning chase that ended in a Rocklin neighborhood.

No one was hurt. The pursuit began about 3:30 a.m. on Locksley Lane near Highway 49 in north Auburn, when Placer County sheriff’s deputies stopped the driver for a suspected traffic violation. The man briefly stopped his vehicle before fleeing onto Interstate 80 toward Rocklin, sheriff’s officials said.

In Rocklin, authorities used spike strips to stop the fleeing driver, but the man bailed from the car. A Rocklin police drone in the air and a Sacramento County sheriff’s K-9 team soon joined the search. Placer deputies arrested the man about 5 a.m. on Granite Drive near Interstate 80, said sheriff’s officials.

Placer County sheriff’s officials said the man was to be booked into Placer County custody on suspicion of charges including evading a peace officer, resisting arrest and impeding peace officers in the early morning incident.
