Authorities in Marin County last week recovered the body of an 18-year-old Sacramento woman who went missing while attending a concert nearly a month earlier in San Francisco.

Mai Sai Vue’s body was discovered Nov. 28 along the shoreline fronting Point San Pedro near McNears Beach in San Rafael beside the Bay waters, the Marin County Sheriff’s Office announced Thursday in a news release.

“Due to her extended exposure to the aquatic environment and elements, her positive identification necessitated being confirmed via scientific means, which delayed the release of her identity,” sheriff’s officials said in the news release.

She reportedly went missing on Halloween night while attending a concert with friends and family in San Francisco.

She was last seen about 11 p.m. Oct. 31 in the area of Grove and Larkin streets, the San Francisco Police Department announced Nov. 2 in a Facebook post. Police urged anyone who spotted her to call 911 and anyone with information on her possible whereabouts to call the police tip line.

The Marin County Search and Rescue Team, with help from other authorities at the scene, recovered her body in a “precarious and difficult to access” area.

Sheriff’s officials said her body did not have any “overt signs of foul play,” but her death remained under investigation by the police department and the sheriff’s Coroner Division. A forensic postmortem examination with routine toxicology testing was pending completion.

The cause and manner of her death will be determined at the conclusion of the investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“The Marin County Sheriff’s Office and personnel of the Coroner Division offers our sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Vue,” sheriff’s officials said in the news release.

Mai Xiong, her sister, started a Gofundme page to raise money to help her family with her sister’s funeral expenses. She thanked those who helped them search for her sister.

“Mai Sai was a very intelligent and sweet person who had so much patience. As my only sister, she was my rock and the only person who I could count on,” she wrote in the online fundraiser page. “Without my baby sister, I am lost, broken and unable to focus on the fact that I no longer will have someone to lean on or to call my sister. A short but sweet lifetime together is never enough.”
