Arrest made after south Sacramento taco stand employees fight off armed robber

A 21-year-old man was arrested Friday night after employees of a South Sacramento taco stand fought him off during an attempted armed robbery, authorities said.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office, the man allegedly tried to rob a taco stand near Fruitridge Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard at gunpoint about 9:30 p.m.

Employees of the taco stand wrestled the man to the ground and knocked the gun loose. They held him down until Sacramento Police Department officers and Sacramento County deputies arrived to take the man into custody, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies also recovered an unserialized handgun used in the attempted robbery.

The Sheriff’s Office said no one was injured during the incident. The man was arrested and taken to Sacramento County Main Jail, where he is being held on $260,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear Tuesday in court for arraignment.
