Man who fled Broadway wreck and fought with officers is arrested, Sacramento police say

Police tape blocks entrance to a convenience store in San Luis Obispo County.

Sacramento police arrested a man on numerous charges Saturday morning after he fled a collision at a Broadway intersection.

Police swarmed the two-car collision about 8 a.m. on Broadway at Fifth Street in Land Park. Officers learned the driver of one of the vehicles was wanted on a felony warrant. Sacramento Police Department officials later said the driver tried to run from the wreckage and briefly fought with officers before his arrest.

Bystanders at the scene said the man was subdued by a police dog.

Sacramento Fire Department personnel carried the man on a gurney to a waiting ambulance to be transported to a nearby hospital. His name was not released Saturday morning.

The wreck and large police presence blocked Broadway for a time between Fifth and Sixth streets. The roadway has since reopened.

Police on Saturday said he will be taken to Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of numerous charges connected to the crash and pursuit.
