The bodies of two men found earlier this week shot and killed inside a Rosemont home are being investigated as a murder-suicide, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.

Sacramento sheriff’s deputies came to the residence Monday morning to help the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, which was alerted to two dead men with gunshot wounds, the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Metro Fire personnel were called to the scene around 11 a.m. after a victim’s friend came to the home in the 3600 block of Sutterwoods Way to check in on Jesse Singh Janda. Janda, 33, had not shown up Sunday to play a round of golf with the friend, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“Detectives observed two expended shell casings next to Janda, who was still holding a handgun underneath his body,” the Sheriff’s Office said. Deputies added later in the news release: “Detectives believe this was a murder-suicide at Janda’s hand.”

The second man found dead has been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office as Matthew Clifton, 32, of Denver.

The investigation into the motive behind the incident is ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office said.
