A mass undercover drug sting targeting online fentanyl and narcotics dealers netted dozens of arrests and took thousands of dollars of the dangerous drugs off Sacramento area streets, authorities said this week.

Nearly 200 officers from a swarm of agencies across the Sacramento region along with state and federal law enforcement created online accounts to arrange drug buys at specific sites in Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer and Yolo counties, said Sacramento County District Attorney’s officials.

Nearly 90 dealers who met with the undercover agents during the two-day sting Feb. 27-28 dubbed “Folsom Blues 2.0,” were arrested on drug and other charges including 58 felony arrests.

A wide assortment of narcotics were seized in the two-day sweep including more than 10 pounds of methamphetamine as well as cocaine, LSD and 1,125 fentanyl pills. The operation was spearheaded by the Folsom Police Department.

“These coordinated undercover operations are allowing us to identify, arrest and prosecute a significant number of dealers who are selling fentanyl and other dangerous drugs in our region,” said Sacramento County District Attorney Thien Ho, whose office took part in the operation and announced the arrests. “My office will continue to participate in these regional stings ... to stop the flow of drugs into our community, especially deadly fentanyl.”
