Police investigate fatal shooting that left man dead in south Sacramento

Homicide detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that left a man dead late Thursday, Sacramento Police Department officials said.

Officers found the man just after 11:15 p.m. in the 300 block of Maidenbrook Lane, in the city’s Valley Hi/North Laguna neighborhood. The man had been shot at least once, police officials said. Officers tried to revive the man but pronounced him dead.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 21-year-old Shalom Rubben Billcataria of Sacramento.

Now Sacramento Police investigators are trying to find the person or people connected to the killing and are asking for the public’s help. Anyone with information can call dispatchers at 916-808-5471, or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-4357.
