Bicyclist critically injured in Mangan Park hit-and-run, Sacramento police say
A bicyclist was critically injured Monday morning in a hit-and-run crash in the Mangan Park neighborhood of south Sacramento, police said.
Officers responded around 9:30 a.m. near the intersection of 24th Street and Fruitridge Road after reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a bicyclist. The driver left the scene before officers arrived, police said.
A department spokesman said the cyclist was transported to a hospital for life-threatening injuries as officers worked to track down the motorist who left the scene.
Police said in an update Monday evening that they had taken a 29-year-old Sacramento man into custody on suspicion of felony hit and run resulting in serious injury. The man was subsequently booked and released from the Sacramento County Main Jail and was expected to be arraigned Wednesday.
