A man was arrested late Friday afternoon after a roughly five-hour standoff with law enforcement at a home in Lincoln, police said.

Lincoln police officers and firefighters around noon were called out to a home on the 1300 block of La Guardia Circle for a house fire, the Lincoln Police Department and city of Lincoln said in a joint news release. A blaze in the driveway was put out shortly after.

A 45-year-old man living at the home came outside and started threatening officers, according to the news release. He is accused of carrying a pocket knife and swinging a baton toward officers.

The man then went inside his home, barricaded the doors and windows and declined to come out, the news release said.

Placer County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called in to help and around 5 p.m., the man “peacefully surrendered” to officers without further incident and was taken into custody, according to the release.

He was booked into the Placer County jail.
