A Sacramento man was arrested early Sunday, suspected of being drunk when the vehicle he was driving hit two other vehicles, including an Elk Grove police car.
John Kariuki Minju, who fled the scene of the accident on foot and had to be hunted down, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on Sunday on charges of felony drunk driving and felony hit and run, said Elk Grove police spokesman Officer Christopher Trim.
Trim said the officer driving the police car and a woman driving the other vehicle that was hit were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The three-vehicle crash happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday near the intersection of Elk Grove-Florin and Sheldon roads.
An intensive, hours-long manhunt for Minju, 40, was conducted by four police agencies, canines and a helicopter. He was eventually found in a home on the 7900 block of Symington Way, Trim said.
