Davis police seek identity of man who tore down Israeli flag from home

Davis police are asking for the public’s help to identify a man seen on video tearing down an Israeli flag from a residence earlier this month.

The incident occurred around 1:53 a.m. June 1 in the 1500 block of Claremont Drive. According to the Davis Police Department, the suspect appears in a Ring doorbell video to be a man with short dark hair, wearing glasses, a light-colored T-shirt and dark pants.

Investigators have opened a criminal probe and are treating the incident as a potential hate crime.

“The city of Davis stands firmly against all forms of hate crime,” the Police Department said in a statement. “Acts of hate are not only unacceptable, they are crimes.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Davis police at 530-747-5400 or email PoliceWeb@cityofdavis.org. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
