Police identify man accused of murder in deadly south Sacramento shooting

Police have identified a suspect in connection with Wednesday night’s homicide in south Sacramento.

Carlos Magana, 40, was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail just before 5 p.m. Thursday and could face a murder charge, online jail records show.

Officers responded shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday to a reported shooting on the 3800 block of Florin Road and found a man who had suffered a gunshot wound and died at the scene, according to the news release.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Felix Omar Diaz Cortez, 27, of Sacramento.

The incident remains under investigation and details about the events leading up to the killing remained unclear.

Police encouraged witnesses to call 916-808-5471, with possible rewards of up to $1,000.

Magana is scheduled to appear before a judge Monday in Sacramento Superior Court.
