Man dies after reported assault in Hagginwood. Sacramento police investigating

A man died after a reported assault Friday night in Sacramento’s Hagginwood neighborhood, police said.

Fire personnel arrived first to the 1700 block of South Avenue, where they found an unconscious man upon whom they attempted life-saving measures, Sacramento Police Department spokesperson Officer Anthony Gamble said. Police responded to the scene around 9:45 p.m. for a report of an assault.

The man was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Gamble said.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene. No information about the suspect is available, Gamble said.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s identity after his family members are notified.
