3 dead, 1 hospitalized after suspected DUI crash in Sacramento

Roadway fatality

Three people died and a driver suspected of DUI was seriously injured when a truck and another vehicle crashed Saturday morning in Sacramento, police said.

The collision was reported around 12:45 a.m. near Roseville Road and Connie Drive in the Del Paso Park neighborhood, Sacramento Police Department spokesperson Officer Anthony Gamble said.

Officers who arrived at the scene found one of the vehicles on fire and two people inside who were pronounced dead, Gamble said. A third victim, possibly ejected from that vehicle and found “down the roadway,” was also pronounced dead, Gamble said.

The driver of the truck was taken to a hospital with serious injuries and was in critical but stable condition Saturday morning, Gamble said.

The truck driver is suspected of driving under the influence, with alcohol determined as a possible factor through preliminary investigation, Gamble said.

The names of the three dead will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after family members are notified.
