Roseville police have arrested an 18-year-old man accused of threatening children and distributing lewd materials.
Colin La Grand Downs was taken into custody by detectives Friday and booked on suspicion of making criminal threats, distributing pornographic material to minors, communicating with minors with the intent of committing a sex crime and possession of an illegal weapon.
Roseville police received information that Downs told a third party that he planned to sexually assault and commit other violent crimes against local boys, according to a Police Department news release. Acting on that information, detectives served a search warrant at Downs’ home. Police officials said they found evidence that Downs sent texts of a sexual nature and distributed lewd materials to minors in the community. They also found an illegal billy club.
Downs is being held in Placer County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
