Shooting near downtown Sacramento leaves 1 man dead. No arrests made

A man was fatally shot early Sunday morning near downtown Sacramento, according to police reports.

Just before 2 a.m., Sacramento officers were dispatched to the area of Blues Alley and 12th Street where officers located a man with at least one gunshot wound, said Sacramento Police Department spokesperson officer Allison Smith.

Officers attempted life-saving measures on the man but were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Smith said.

Police have not yet identified the victim and no information is currently available on any potential suspects.

The Sacramento Police Department encourages any witnesses with information regarding the shooting to contact the dispatch center at 916-808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at 916-443-HELP (4357). Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.

This remains an active investigation.
