Folsom Lake College baseball coach arrested on suspicion of domestic violence
A Folsom Lake College baseball coach and professor who officers said barricaded himself in his Roseville home after a domestic disturbance was arrested last week by Roseville police.
Arrested was Richard Gregory, 51, said Roseville Police Department officials. Roseville officers were called about 1:30 p.m. Thursday to the home in the 1400 block of Orwell Drive, for what was described by police as a disturbance between a man and woman over a breakup.
Gregory, the community college’s head baseball coach, is also a professor of kinesiology and health education at the Folsom campus. Gregory has been Folsom Lake’s head baseball coach and a member of its faculty since 2015, according to the campus’ website.
When police officers arrived, the man, later identified as Gregory, barricaded himself in a bedroom while the woman left the home.
Police crisis negotiators eventually talked the man into leaving the home and surrendering to officers, according to Roseville police.
Gregory was arrested on suspicion of felony domestic violence and obstruction of justice. He was booked into Placer County Jail custody and released Friday, according to jail records.
