1 wounded in Elk Grove gas station shooting; gunman fled, police say
A shooting at an Elk Grove gas station Wednesday evening left a 21-year-old man wounded and police searching for the gunman.
“This was not a random incident,” Elk Grove Police Department officials said in an update posted to social media following the shooting just before 8 p.m. at the Chevron gas station on Kammerer Road at the end of Promenade Parkway. The gas station is less than a mile from Sky River Casino and Highway 99 in the southern edge of the city.
Elk Grove detectives said the gunman and the 21-year-old victim were arguing in the gas station’s parking lot when the gunman fired his weapon. The shooting victim returned fire before the gunman fled. The victim was later taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, police said.
Officers were still looking for the man’s shooter as detectives’ work continues.
