Sacramento junior high fight led police to parent’s assault rifles, cocaine
A schoolyard fight at a Sacramento junior high led police to a cache of assault-style weapons, drugs and cash belonging to a student’s parent, authorities said.
The 34-year-old was taken into custody on Sept. 11 following a warrant search by Sacramento police officers assigned to the department’s North Violent Crime Reduction team, the Sacramento Police Department said in a statement Monday.
Police said the incident began with a physical altercation at a north-area junior high school, which officials did not name. After the fight, threats were posted on social media, according to department spokesman Officer Anthony Gamble. The content of those threats remains under investigation, but Gamble said the posts targeted individuals involved in the juvenile brawl.
Investigators said they recovered five firearms, including an AK-47-style rifle, an AR-15-style rifle and a stolen handgun, according to a department statement. Officers also seized several ounces of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash.
It was not clear if the man, who was not in jail custody late Monday, was arraigned on charges. Police said the man, who was prohibited from having weapons because of a prior felony, would face “various firearm, threats and narcotic charges.”
