Some type of fight Wednesday morning and a woman’s refusal to come out of a Rocklin home led officers to evacuate nearby homes and obtain an arrest warrant before taking her into custody.
The incident occurred in the area of Cormorant Circle, just east of Lonetree Boulevard and a few blocks west of Blue Oaks Boulevard.
The incident was reported as an “altercation” about 9 a.m. at the home. Capt. Chad Morris, a spokesperson for the Rocklin Police Department, said a man and a woman in a dating relationship were involved in the dispute.
Officers arrived at the home, and the man walked out and was cooperative with police. Morris said the woman refused to come out of the home, so officers began trying to deescalate the situation to produce a peaceful outcome.
At 10:44 a..m., the Rocklin police announced in social media posts that officers were in the Cormorant Circle area “investigating an active incident.” At that time, the department urged residents to avoid the area while officers were at the scene.
Police, responding to Facebook comments, said that residents in nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution, and there were no orders to have any residents shelter in place.
Morris said officers had already obtained an arrest warrant on domestic violence-related charges before they entered the home and took the woman into custody. He said she surrendered to officers without resisting, and the officers did not use force to detain her.
The man suffered minor injuries during the fight inside the home, Morris said. No other injuries were reported.
At 12:45 p.m., police announced that one suspect was in custody and officers remained at the scene. They cautioned drivers that nearby traffic might still be affected.
Morris said those residents evacuated from their homes had since been allowed to return and that the area had returned to “business as usual.”
