Police tape at crime scene

Police are investigating a homicide after a body was found near a heavily trafficked area of a Nevada County park.

Authorities received a call reporting a “subject down” around 7 a.m. Saturday at Condon Park near 660 Minnie St. in Grass Valley. They arrived to find a deceased white male believed to be in his 30s.

The person has not been identified pending notification to next of kin. The cause of death is unknown, though police described the death as “suspicious.”

As of Sunday morning, no arrests had been made in the case.

The FBI-Sacramento Evidence Collection Team, the Nevada County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue and the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office are assisting in the investigation.

A disc golf course and skate park reopened Sunday after police closed the area to collect evidence.
