Man stabbed outside Sacramento motel taken to hospital; one in custody

Police tape blocks entrance to a convenience store in San Luis Obispo County.

A man was stabbed outside a Del Paso Park motel Wednesday and taken to a hospital with injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening. The suspect was later taken into custody.

Sacramento County sheriff’s deputies and Sacramento police officers responded around noon to a report of a stabbing outside the Sacramento Inn & Suites in the 4300 block of Watt Avenue near Longview Drive and Interstate 80, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies found a man with a stab wound to his arm and applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He was taken to a nearby hospital. The Sacramento Police Department later confirmed his injuries were not life-threatening.

The stabbing occurred on the southwest corner of Watt and Longview. Sacramento police took over the investigation and detained a suspect shortly after the incident. The motel sits within city limits straddling the area splitting North Highlands and Arden Arcade.

Authorities said it was not immediately clear whether the victim and the alleged attacker knew each other.
