Sacramento police drug and gun busts lead to 28 felony arrests

Local law enforcement seized guns, cash and a large amount of drugs in the Sacramento region over a one-week period, resulting in 28 felony arrests.

In a joint operation with state and federal law enforcement, the Sacramento Police Department seized 230 grams of methamphetamine, 2,100 grams of cocaine, 52 grams of heroin, 9 grams of fentanyl and 47,000 fentanyl pills, according to spokesperson Allison Smith. Officers also confiscated eight handguns and $1,900 in cash.

Smith did not share where the arrests were made but said that they were not limited to the city of Sacramento.

Police worked in partnership with the Drug Enforcement Administration and California Highway Patrol on a joint operation focused on illegal drugs and firearms.

“These operations aren’t anything particularly new — we’ve continued to work regionally with CHP and our federal partners,” Smith said.

Investigations related to the busts are ongoing, Smith said.
